Synopsis
Inspired by true events, Mohsen and his younger lover Hassan are attempting to illegally cross the border from Iran to France where they might live free from the threat of imprisonment or death. Travelling by train separately to avoid suspicion, Mohsen is befriended by an older widow, Yolande, who offers him work and lodgings in her apartment. The conspiring of events sees Mohsen hiding Hassan in Yalonde's attic, as the kindly woman enacts a plan to marry Mohsen, to buy him freedom, and some company for herself. But actions clouded by the desperation and caution of these two refugees, draw the trio closer to dangerous consequences.
