If they reach the human settlement of Lake-town it will be time for the hobbit Bilbo Baggins to fulfill his contract with the dwarves. The party must complete the journey to Lonely Mountain and burglar Baggins must seek out the Secret Door that will give them access to the hoard of the dragon Smaug. And, where has Gandalf got off to? And what is his secret business to the south?

loved it!!
It's better in 2D
This was amazing and it was one of the best movies that year
The much-anticipated second installment of The Hobbit trilogy was exactly as expected; action-packed, cleverly shot, and just what fans of the movies have come to expect. I loved the depiction of Laketown.

Brilliant! Peter Jackson has created another masterpiece. His addition to the original story line has made The Hobbit even more captivating. Must see movie of the year.

I have been looking forward to the Desolation of Smaug for some time AND I LOVED IT!! When Benedict Cumberbatch's voice came on I was REALLY excited. (I'm a huge Sherlock fan - I love how Benedict and Martin got to work together outside of Sherlock). This film was absolutely fascinating and there...

it was ok
A great film it had a pretty good ending, everyone would enjoy it
Lord of the Rings always enjoyable & long enough to make u feel u got your money's worth with the extra cost for the 3D version, which is certainly worth it - didn't check the time once, so didnt drag atall - even found the ending a bit sudden, but obviously leaving the way open for the sequel

Excellent special effects and story line. Movie and book do not quite match up, however, still an excellent movie to go and see.

I found it really good. Havent read the book.
Good fight scenes. Recommend watching the one before this the day before this one.

More enjoyable than Part 1; although still seems like a world removed from the Middle Earth of the LOTR trilogy. Excessive digital sets, only made bearable by avoiding HFR screenings, which hinder the digitally shot and generated excessively bright

Never be as good as Lord of the Rings trilogy, interesting story but saying that I dozed off a couple of times. Couldn't wait until the end.

Peter Jackson reigns supreme in this genre
Once again fantastic scenery the 3D kept me busy dodging all the stuff coming at me from the screen....maybe a little too long .

Movie was good but the 3D effects were mediocre. There was so much potential to make it a really effective 3D movie! Very disappointed. Dont waste your money on paying extra for the 3D effect.

I nearly swore off all further LotR films after the first Hobbit film - it was long, mostly yawn worthy and totally unadventurous. However I'm glad I decided to see the second film. It is a loving recreation of the main bulk of the book. The details are extraordinary. It is adventure from...

Awesome movie! Enjoyed every minute of it.
Watch it for what it is, a movie. Make sure you've seen part 1 first. Don't make comparisons with the book. It's a movie :)
