Rajbangshi language

A three-part depiction of the late Pratima Baruah-Pandey’s life (1934 –2002), the Gauripur royal Goalpariya folk singer from Assam. Enjoying folk songs of the working class mahouts (elephant drivers), moishals (buffalo boys) and naworias (river boatmen), Pandey soon came to be known as “Hastir Kanya” - daughter of elephants. Played by three actresses depicting various stages of her life, the film illustrates how Baruah-Pandey’s efforts were the voice that gifted Goalpariya Folk songs national recognition.
