Big names bolster Boxing Day releases at HOYTS There’s fun for everyone on the big screen this summer

It is one of the biggest days in the cinematic calendar. With everyone ready to relax after Christmas Day – and the hectic lead up to the holiday period – there is nothing better than a day at the movies catching one of the biggest Boxing Day releases.

HOYTS has all the blockbusters everyone will want to see, for audiences of all ages, said Director of Sales, Marketing and Content Stephanie Mills.

“Every seat is a great seat at HOYTS in our comfy recliners, but you can book ahead on our website to pick your favourite spot for one of the most hotly anticipated releases of the year,” she said.

Sing along to your favourite Whitney Houston hits in the new biopic, I Wanna Dance With Somebody. This moving and triumphant celebration of superstar Whitney Houston, stars BAFTA Award winner Naomi Alice. It follows her trailblazing life and career, with incredible show-stopping performances and a soundtrack of Whitney’s most beloved hits as you’ve never heard them before.

There is plenty to keep the kids entertained too, with two highly anticipated family-friendly flicks opening on Boxing Day.

For the first time in more than a decade, DreamWorks Animation adds to the Shrek universe with new adventure, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish. Daring outlaw Puss in Boots discovers his passion for peril and disregard for safety have taken their toll. He’s burned through eight of his nine lives, although he lost count along the way.

Getting those lives back will send Puss on his grandest quest yet. Antonio Banderas returns as the voice of the notorious PiB while Selma Hayek plays the captivating Kitty Soft Paws. Catch everyone’s favourite leche-loving feline for some big laughs on the biggest screen in HOYTS Xtremescreen.

Based on the best-selling book series by Bernard Waber, Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile is a musical comedy combining live action and CGI to bring this beloved character to life. When the Primm family moves to New York City, their young son Josh struggles to adapt to a new school and find new friends. That changes when he discovers Lyle, a singing crocodile who loves baths, caviar and great music, living in the attic of his new home. Lyle is voiced by pop sensation Shawn Mendes, who also performs the movie’s original songs.

At HOYTS, families save big with Family movie tickets on G and PG movies.

“For audiences of all ages, there’s also the chance to catch one of the most significant releases of the year, with Avatar: The Way of Water still showing,” said Stephanie.

“Director James Cameron is back to his brilliant best with this film, set more than a decade after the original Avatar which remains the highest grossing film of all time in Australia.”

Avatar: The Way of Water is a must-see on the big screen. Experience it in HOYTS Xtremescreen for the largest screen and best sound or opt to dive into the world of Pandora in 3D.
