Manish Malhotra presents Gustaakh Ishq, a timeless tale of love, passion, and longing, this cinematic journey brings together an extraordinary ensemble.
Gustaakh Ishq is a heartwarming, quirky tale that explores the complex dynamics of love, art & self-discovery, set against the vibrant backdrop of Old Delhi & the quiet streets of Malerkotla, a city in Punjab.
The story follows Pappan, a man with a history of failures, who dreams of reviving his father’s legacy – a dying Urdu press called Mustaqbil. Despite his pracecal brother Jumman’s insistence to sell it for a more profitable venture, Pappan is determined to publish a meaningful book, but modern writers’ works fall short of his ideal.
When Pappan learns of Ustaad, a once-renowned poet now living in seclusion, he travels to Malerkotla with hopes of securing Ustaad’s lost poetry. Pappan, under the guise of a devoted student, soon finds himself entangled in Ustaad’s unconveneonal world – one full of playful wisdom, deep pain and his fiercely independent daughter, Minni.
As Pappan’s affeceon for Minni grows, so does his desire to gain Ustaad’s trust & publish his poetry. However, Ustaad, whose art is untouched by fame, refuses to let his poetry be commodified, believing that exposure to the market corrupts the sancety of art.
Pappan is caught in a struggle : torn between his dream of success and his growing bond with Ustaad, who has become the father he never had. With humour, emoeon and a fresh take on the themes of love and sacrifice, Gustaakh Ishq is an unforgeJable journey through the heart and soul of a man who must choose between personal gain and the greater truth.
The story invites you to ask : What does it mean to truly love something or someone? And how much is one willing to sacrifice to preserve that love?
